Substance Interactionist Dualism Falsification and Predictions

I feel this is a very important blog post to create as it may be a lot of help for those on the fence with the mind body problem. It has been said if Substance Interactionist Dualism has any scientific merit then it should have ways where it can be falsified. I totally agree with that, in this blog post I will point out a couple ways where Substance Dualism could be shown to be false. 1. Split brain split consciousness would show that consciousness is not unified like substance dualism predicts. However, it has been shown that splitting the brain does not split consciousness. 2. The brain affects consciousness but consciousness does not affect the brain. If Physicalism is true then, it would follow that he brain affects consciousness but not the other way around. We know this however is not true, for example stress of a losing a loved one could cause you to have high blood pressure or develop a stomach ulcer. The way you think impacts your emotional state. which then impacts the chemicals in your brain. A positive mindset can help individuals manage stress and pain, potentially leading to better overall health outcomes. Predictions 1. That it's not a one way street the brain does not just affect the mind but consciousness/mind affect the brain as well. 2. Substance Interactionist Dualism accurately accounts for all neuroscientific evidence that physicalists assert supports the view that the mind is produced by the brain however seeing the brain as a receiver/filter/reducing valve equally accounts for this scientific evidence. As we are not talking about a simple receiver but an very advanced/complexed one that would maximize the effects we see on how mind for example brain damage. Just recently I have come up with another analogy its a computer analogy but different from the physicalist analogy that mind is software and the brain is hardware. Instead, mind is like Wi-Fi, body/brain as laptop" metaphor and the soul is made of a different kind of matter that interacts with the wifi(mind) and the brain/body as the laptop. This would be a more modern metaphor. I was brought to attention just yesterday of a case in a blog called skeptical zone where it was memtioned that a patient with a brain tumour had no free will when the brain tumour was present in his brain but as soon as they removed the brain tumour his ability for decision making would come back. This is similiar to a foreign invader entering into a radio like sand or liquid going into a tv set affects the channels in a tv set or a computer virus affecting the access to the internet completely. It does not follow that the tv set is producing the channels, the radio is producing the music and that the computer is producing the internet.

First he makes the statement that the mind body problem has been solved well over 100 years ago. Completely false there are many scientists that would disagree with that statement. Then he says FMRI can detect thoughts that that can decoded from brain activity. Yes, the brain is a decoder, filter, receiver of consciousness that doesn't prove that consciousness is produce by the brain. Apparently many other new agers as they are referred to on there have been banned as well. That doesn't surprise me in the least as I mentioned before the forum and the site has an agenda to promote naturalism.

Correct a correlation a strong one but a strong correlation does show causation.

The point being that there need not be any such activity if the 'mind' is located elsewhere.

Wrong their is activity in a tv set as well as a radio. The question remains where the source of consciousness at?. Is it the brain? Is it the brain plus the interaction with the environment? EM field? Quantum Mechanics?. What if consciousness is primary and matter and energy are secondary?.

He also mentions that no transmission parts or receiver parts have been found in the brain. The brain is a very complex organ and we know there are neurotransmitters in the brain so its wrong that no transmissive parts have been found. The brain also receives information from the cerebral cortex. The questions remains is the brain the generator of consciousness or the receiver, decoder, filter of consciousness?
