Skeptic D.J. Grothe Asks Dr. Phil to get real

Well leading President of the James Randi Educational Foundation thinks that it is totally wrong to get platform to frauds he says to such mediums as John Edwards and Ms. Margolis. I always said and will continue to say make up your own minds. I do have a few comments about John Edwards. If Crossing Over John Edward's show was much of a fraud then why doesn't the camera man or someone working in the show come forth?. You would think after all this time someone would. And yes the good old Jame's Randi challenge what a publicity stunt he's very interested in feeding his ego.

Here's the link to the article here.

James Randi's Million Dollar Challenge Hits Publicity jackpot

Its look like James Randi's million dollar challenge has gotten a ton of publicity recently from many different media outlets.(ABC, CBC, Discovery, AOL, Gizmodo, Time). His trickster friend Banachek officiates a central part in a feature on ABC's Nightline dedicated to the topic of psychic powers. Of course this is a one off challenge and in science one experiment doesn't prove anything. Many atheists have stated that if psychic powers really exist they should take the one million dollar challenge lol. You can find out more about how this challenge isn't a real scientific test.

James Randi Fighting Intestinal Cancer

Apparently from what i read through the internet James Randi famed debunker of paranormal claims has intestinal cancer. Even though i disagree strongly with his views on the evidence for psi phenomena and survival of bodily death. That his challenge has many problems. My best wishes go out to James Randi and his family . It doesn't look good for him according to doctors he has a 50/50 prognosis for the next 5 years.

Patricia Does Mental Mediumship Experiment For The One Million Dollars

As i mentioned before James Randi skeptic and magician has a million dollars for anyone that can prove their paranormal powers under controlled strict scientific conditions. I mentioned before how their is compelling reasons why the challenge is unwinable.

Discussion on Randi's prize can be found at the following internet forum:
www.steorn.com/forum

Recently an medium named Patricia apparently failed the test. Their are two possibilities here one she couldn't do what she claims she can do, we do know without a doubt many mediums are frauds, cold readers. However their are some that are genuine. Another possibility is that perhaps the data was altered some. The reason why i say this is because of a number of reasons.

1] He's the fellow who claimed that his own work invalidated Rupert Sheldrake's research on "pet telepathy," but when Wiseman's results were analyzed, they were found to match the same patterns Sheldrake had identified!

http://www.sheldrake.org/D&C/controversies/Wiseman_psi.html

2] He was also one of the investigators in the thoroughly botched Natasha Demkina experiment.

http://www.skepticalinvestigations.org/New/Demkinafile/index.html

3] Here's a good takedown of Wiseman by Stephen Braude.

http://www.skepticalinvestigations.org/New/Examskeptics/Braude_Wiseman.html

4] More articles critical of Wiseman can be found here

http://search.freefind.com/find.html?oq=Wiseman+demkina&id=70607058&pageid=r&_charset_=utf-8&bcd=%C3%B7&scs=1&query=Wiseman+&Find=Search&mode=ALL&search=all

Then their is the other scientist who conducted that experiment on Patricia, called Professor Chris french

in The Skeptic, 14(4): "I am biased in my approach to evidence relating to the paranormal…..I make no claim to be a neutral assessor of the evidence". He takes the view that the on-going debate about the existence of psi "is more consistent with the notion that psi is a powerful illusion rather than the idea that it is real and we are making progress in understanding it".

James Randi Backs Out Of An Challenge With Homeopath George Vithoulkas

It looks like according to two sources, James Randi yes the amazing Randi has back out of an challenge with an homeopath. This doesn't surprise me, i don't think it would surprise James Randi's fans either they will just say it isn't James Randi duty to take up all challenges. Well ok, he chooses the ones he wants to take up, isn't that bias?.

Here are the sources

James Randi Youtube Video It's Not In The Name

James Randi lies when he says

"Two universities Duke and Standford gave up their many years of involvement with Parapsychology because they had no positive results to continue their involvement"

Here's James Randi's youtube video here

Leo- An open letter from Jahn and Dunne from Pear Lab say this

Despite rumors to the contrary, this move was not imposed upon us but was our own carefully considered decision, based on a constellation of relevant factors. We felt that we had accomplished what we originally set out to do 28 years ago, namely to determine whether anomalous consciousness-related phenomena could be studied under rigorously controlled laboratory conditions and, if so, whether they were real and what were their salient characteristics. The enormous databases produced by PEAR have provided clear evidence that human thought and emotion can produce small but measurable influences on physical reality and have established numerous insights into their major correlates. They have also established the basis for several conceptual models that attempt to accommodate the empirical results within a scientific framework.

PEAR founder Dr Robert Jahn:

For 28 years, we've done what we wanted to do, and there's no reason to stay and generate more of the same data. If people don't believe us after all the results we've produced, then they never will... It's time for a new era; for someone to figure out what the implications of our results are for human culture, for future study, and - if the findings are correct - what they say about our basic scientific attitude.

Also James Randi talks about how Standford University didn't gather any positive results either. WRONG.

Joseph Rhine moved DU's parapsychology lab off-campus, and continues to this day as the Rhine Research Centre. Rhine's research reported positive results. Stanford University's interest in parapsychology was disrupted when the Stanford Research Institute separated from the University and became SRI International. SRI International was the nursery for the Stargate remote viewing project, of which statistician Jessica Utts concluded: "Using the standards applied to any other area of science, it is concluded that psychic functioning has been well-established. The statistical results of the studies examined are far beyond what is expected by chance...there is little benefit to continuing experiments designed to offer proof, since there is little more to be offered to anyone who does not accept the current collection of data." That's a little hard to reconcile with Randi's statement of "no positive results"...

Of course this won't stop James Randi. If he was an open minded skeptic he would realize the error of his ways. He would admit he made false statements. But of course that will never happen.

James Randi Calls The DogsThatKnow Experiment Woo Woo

He calls the experiment woo woo and declines to participate in the experiment even though he was on skeptiko. This is not the first time he has decline to participate for example he has also decline to see the raw results of Dr. Gary Schwartz and Dr.Julie Beischel's work on mental mediums.

James Randi's Recent Interview On Skeptiko

I could not help but to laugh at this interview he calls himself an investigator of the paranormal but he is not if he was he would of taken the open invitation Professor Gary Schwartz gave him to see how the experiments are done with his Mental Mediumship Experiments however he declined and made a personal bias opinion that they are flawed. Also I am sure that other parapsychologist would also invite James Randi to there experiments but James Randi does not want that he wnats to form an bias opnion without investigating. Susan Blackmore has admitted that it is hard to keep an open mind to psi it's no wonder why she never receive any positive results he never really was a believer in psi or even a neutral assessor to it. The same with Richard Wiseman he admits that his data does match Rupert Sheldrakes but that does not matter right not to Richard Wiseman no it is to use a bias opinion by saying Rupert Sheldrake reults are somehow flawed.

Now onto Derren Brown an mentalist claiming that he can do the same thing as mediums can do there is no doubt there are a lot of fraudalent mediums out there but not all are frauds. He uses cold reading and other methods like hot reading and warm reaing but that does not explain away the high evidential information being tranmitted sometimes by mediums such as John Edwards.

Another skeptic Criss Angel says he can do a lot of tricks he calls them that all mediums do and also the phenomena called Levitation but has he even researched the evidence NO.

Belief Vs Evidence

A belief is something everything has however if it is not validated by scientific evidence it because a blind belief with no substance. Has Evidence can be falsify but that's what makes science interesting the thing is if there is enough scientific evidence for something then is because probable that it exists.

I have been researching a lot on life after death the evidence that i have read very carefully and looked with a critical eye i am now 90 percent convinced that life after death does exist that there is a nonphysical soul and that are consciousness does survive death.

Here's a few good websites on survival of the soul and consciousness after death.

www.victorzammit.com
www.survivalafterdeath.org
www.iands.org

There is also a lot of evidence for Psi Phenomena for example Dr.Dean Radin says things about the closed-minded skeptics who don't bother to research and investigate the evidence

Most of the commonly repeated skeptical reactions to psi research are extreme views, driven by the belief that psi is impossible. The effect of repeatedly seeing skeptical dismissals of the research, in college textbooks and in prominent scientific journals, has diminished mainstream academic interest in this topic. However, informed opinions, even among skeptics, shows that virtually all of the past skeptical arguments against psi have dissolved in the face of overwhelming positive evidence, or they are based on incredibly distorted versions of the actual research.

James Randi Million Dollar Challenge

If you already don't know Jame Randi former Magician was a million dollars for any psychic or any other person into the parnormal to demonstrate under controlled scientific experiments that they really have supernatural powers. Know you may think that well I mean this is a former magician he knows a lot about how people can be deceived Right so everything he must say about a psychic also what he says about scientists working in parapsychology must be true Right? Well the answer to that question may come as a surprise to some people the anwswer is James Randi's million dollar challenge is a publicity stunt also science demands replication this does not happen in the challenge he have to demonstrate it once and onle once.

Here's some good links discussing James Randi's Million Dollar Challenge and why it has not scientific value.

http://www.skepticalinvestigations.org/controversies/Auerbach_Randi.htm

Here's a funny statement by James Randi

“Scientists are easily fooled,” explained Randi, “because they think they know.” But only skeptics really know.

So magician James Webster must be fooled ah? Professor Sir Williams Crookes, Dr.Dean Radin must also be fooled ah? along with a long list of others?

Here's another good article on James Randi's challenge ''He's changing the Rules''

According To James Randi he always has a out and that the evidence for survival after death is impossible. As you can see he already has made up his mind about this his mind is now closed to any possibility of this possibly being true.

Now there is no doubt we need skeptics but of the open-minded type sadly though organizations such as csicop and others are promoting a closed-minded way to say well these things are impossible so let's just do this for fun and leave serious investigation out.

Thank you it's time to retire this blog!

Retiring this blog it was fun but have been too busy to keep up with it. I appreciate all the views I have gotten.
