Skeptics Claim They Can Duplicate Paranormal Phenomena

If they can, why haven't they done so?. Of course their is the show called the mentalist, James Randi on talk shows claiming he can do what Uri Geller can. But the point is they haven't shown this is pure trickery in well controlled experiments. Why? because it appears that they can't. By the way i ain't talking about bending mental, i am talking about his ability for dowsing for oil companies. He has written novels and been a proponent of human consciousness development.

When Geller was being tested at SRI computers working on a DARPA project on the next floor went haywire. This seriously upset defense department officials. If a psychic could influence electronic equipment, then any modern weapons system would be subject to sabatoge. Geller had to be discredited to minimize the possibility that anyone would be encouraged to develop military applications for psychic powers. The operation included a prominent skeptic and a U.S. weekly news magazine which brings into question the role of skeptical organizations and the mass media in supressing parapsychology. The Paranormal

Being a materialist myself before I use to find this paranormal stuff was all bunk. It took a long while to realize this materialist view of reality is wrong. Near death death studies challenge greatly materialist theories of mind/brain relationship. They will continue too do for for years to come. If the evidence points towards a soul surviving death we must accept it. Bringing up the same old tired arguments like mind can't survive death because neuroscience proves mind dies when the brain dies. These arguments have been refuted over and over again.

Why I am not so fast to jump to the conclusion that someone else is crazy

If I had no powerful experiences with the paranormal. I probably would be yes very skeptical of other people's experiences. But after having lots of paranormal experiences I no longer jump to the immediate conclusion that the person is deluded. But now what reason do i have to justify this? Well, I have also been researching the evidence for life after death.




Mainstream science has an extraordinarily poor understanding of subjective experiences. Perhaps that is because it refuses to question its foundational assumptions that consciousness is fully explainable through chemical and physical properties of brain tissues, that precognition is impossible in principle, and that anyone who has an experience to the contrary is deluded or mentally unbalanced. The resistance of mainstream science to look at the evidence for survival in a fair matter is still not happening.

The man who created the supernatural

The supernatural frogs falling from the sky, mysterious airships, spontaneous human combustion... it all fascinated Charles Fort, whose appetite for the paranormal lives on today in sci-fi, conspiracy theories and that quirky chronicle of the unknown, the Fortean Times. No one knew what to make of The Book of the Damned, which appeared in bookshops across America in January, 1920. At Brentano's Bookstore on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, the cardboard cartons containing it had arrived from the publishers Boni & Liveright during the Christmas rush. They were quickly pushed into the storeroom with other new titles, to make room for the illustrated children's picture books and popular romance novels that were displayed as ideal gifts. The cover price was one dollar. It was a fat little volume covered in bright red fabric and adorned with neat gold stamping: the title, The Book of the Damned, the author's name, 'Charles Fort', and a pretty decoration of a planet spinning merrily amid a cluster of stars. On the dust jacket was an endorsement from the novelist Theodore Dreiser - 'It is wonderful'- and a promise of what was inside: 'In this amazing book - the result of 12 years of patient research - the author presents a mass of evidence that has hitherto been ignored or distorted by scientists... Things that [seem] incredible support the author's argument, which he develops with strong touches of sardonic humor and flashes of sheer poetic insight.' Nothing else identified the contents as fantasy, religion, science, or philosophy. The attention-grabbing title presented an arresting mystery, and the modest paper wrapper made it all the more beguiling: simple block letters and swirling grey and pink shapes suggesting planets, surging lava, and a solar eclipse.

Customers stopped, picked up the book and turned it over in their hands. With sidelong glances, they cracked the cover to peer inside. They wondered if the author was promising immorality or criminality, hedonism or atheism - in 1920, it was possible to find any of those subjects between the covers of a new book.

Science’s greatest fear

The paranormal and science have an uneasy relationship. The occasional scientist is courageous enough to take the plunge into researching the paranormal, but in the main, the subject is anathema. This has led to what could be called a 'paranormal phobia' amongst those who claim to be rational. The world is explained through individualism, atheism, materialism and specialization. The paranormal doesn't fit into any of these, so forget it. : And science does a marvelous job at doing so. Indeed, many scientists become evangelical in their manic need to show that they are right, and paranormalists -well, mad. They've even recruited an army of groupies -non-scientific types who nonetheless have absolute belief in the wrongness of the paranormal. Forming sceptic societies the world over, they do a marvelous job of publicizing paranormalists, even being responsible for some careers. This manic need is interesting.: They doth protest too much, me thinks. And when someone exhibits this kind of fundamentalist mentality, we really must ask if the reason is not 'rationality' based, but an exhibition of fear. If we go into the history of science, it is clear that it grew out of mysticism and philosophy. Even just over 400 hundred years ago, many scientists were of a mystical bent. Think Keplar and Newton. Even in the 19th century, it was a monk -Mendel -who defined genetics. But somewhere along the way, science crossed the line. : It divorced itself from mysticism, and the absolute idea of inquiry it entailed. This seriously reduced the things it could study -namely, the definite physical world, if such a thing actually exists.

At first, they could be comfortable with this, for society was still religious enough to allow science a repository for things they could not explain. Some things could still be the preserve of God. But as god was banished from the universe, it had to change.: And the repository for awkward 'bits' was taken away. And once this occurred, science did something that was the exact opposite of the rational.

Institute plans paranormal warning system

The arlington institute, a non-profit think tank specialising in predictive modelling of future events, hopes to utilise paranormal powers to provide an early warning of impending disasters or other critical events, such as acts of terrorism. British psychic Chris Robinson, who claims to see the future in dreams, is working with the Institute on the project.The arlington institute (TAI), which was founded nearly 20 years ago by futurist John L. Petersen, has identified why previous attempts to harness psychic powers through premonition bureaux were unsuccessful. They were not equipped with a system of processing reports of dreams and predictions automatically, which meant “the ability to effectively analyse the input was severely limited".Present technology, it adds, overcomes these shortcomings. It can also give feedback to those submitting narratives, maintaining their interest in the process. So, for the first time, it has evolved a scheme -called the WHETHEReport -which it describes as an unprecedented early-warning system.The Internet will play a key role. A web portal will be used to collect anonymous "narratives of significant intuitions of all forms, including dreams, visions [and] overwhelming feelings".An announcement of this "revolutionary new global strategic early warning capability" explains: "TAI has constructed a plan for a new, unconventional anticipatory analysis tool which offers humanity an unprecedented potential to anticipate surprise events. WHETHEReport will function as a global sensing and analysis network -using aggregate human intuition as its intelligence source." This plan, it adds, is based on the following assumption: "The ability to image fragments of the future (particularly in dreams) seems to appear both generally in broad populations of people and specifically and more accurately in special individuals.

"Those individuals, it points out, have been used by law enforcement and intelligence communities. It adds: "The most notable perhaps is Christopher Robinson of the UK, who for 15 years worked very successfully for Scotland Yard and other British intelligence and security services anticipating IRA bombings, drug movements, etc.
