Substance Interactionist Dualism Falsification and Predictions

I feel this is a very important blog post to create as it may be a lot of help for those on the fence with the mind body problem. It has been said if Substance Interactionist Dualism has any scientific merit then it should have ways where it can be falsified. I totally agree with that, in this blog post I will point out a couple ways where Substance Dualism could be shown to be false. 1. Split brain split consciousness would show that consciousness is not unified like substance dualism predicts. However, it has been shown that splitting the brain does not split consciousness. 2. The brain affects consciousness but consciousness does not affect the brain. If Physicalism is true then, it would follow that he brain affects consciousness but not the other way around. We know this however is not true, for example stress of a losing a loved one could cause you to have high blood pressure or develop a stomach ulcer. The way you think impacts your emotional state. which then impacts the chemicals in your brain. A positive mindset can help individuals manage stress and pain, potentially leading to better overall health outcomes. Predictions 1. That it's not a one way street the brain does not just affect the mind but consciousness/mind affect the brain as well. 2. Substance Interactionist Dualism accurately accounts for all neuroscientific evidence that physicalists assert supports the view that the mind is produced by the brain however seeing the brain as a receiver/filter/reducing valve equally accounts for this scientific evidence. As we are not talking about a simple receiver but an very advanced/complexed one that would maximize the effects we see on how mind for example brain damage. Just recently I have come up with another analogy its a computer analogy but different from the physicalist analogy that mind is software and the brain is hardware. Instead, mind is like Wi-Fi, body/brain as laptop" metaphor and the soul is made of a different kind of matter that interacts with the wifi(mind) and the brain/body as the laptop. This would be a more modern metaphor. I was brought to attention just yesterday of a case in a blog called skeptical zone where it was memtioned that a patient with a brain tumour had no free will when the brain tumour was present in his brain but as soon as they removed the brain tumour his ability for decision making would come back. This is similiar to a foreign invader entering into a radio like sand or liquid going into a tv set affects the channels in a tv set or a computer virus affecting the access to the internet completely. It does not follow that the tv set is producing the channels, the radio is producing the music and that the computer is producing the internet.

The production model v.s the Receiver/filter/reducing valve theory

It is often said by Materialists that the dramatic alterations of the brain on the mind/consciousness demonstrates that the brain somehow produces Consciousness. However a simple production model doesn't work as the brain is very complex and you won't here any dispute about that from Materialist scientist's. So we liken it to a complex production model as the brain is like a super computer that hasn't been created yet. It is said that this model can explain the effects the brain has on the mind but the receiver analogy cannot as the brain is not a tv set. However, let's be clear here subbstance dualists are not saying the brain is a simple tv set but instead a complex tv set so the effects are very much amped up. I should point out the analogy that the brain is a tv set is speaking loosely as I have mentioned a radio as well before.

I got a lot on my mind lately!

I am not feeling so good!. I just have a lot on my mind. I am sure many people do its a rough time. Just that storm for this week on my mind. As you have heard suppose to be very bad with lots and lots of rain but more than anything it's the wind. If things got real bad where would people go?. It's not like there are any real shelters in my small town. Of course, the pandemic makes me wonder if it's really ever going to end. Just recently found out about the passing of Jean she was a good friend of my late father. She always asked about me and wondered how I was doing. I miss her a lot. A lot of crazy stuff happening lately too like the bad flooding in British Columbia. I know it seems like I am ranting but I am really just trying to vent my thoughts. I have been listening to a lot of Christmas music lately trying to keep in a positive mindset.

The Brain as a filter, receiver/reducing value for Mind/Consciousness has strong support

Materialist's often claim that if Consciousness/Mind were separate from the brain we wouldn't have the kind of correlations we see if brain damaged patients. They often see the brain as a computer even though the brain is far more complex than a regular computer is. No dualist is saying that the brain is a simple filter, receiver or reducing value for the Mind and Consciousness. How the brain which is physical and Mind/Consciousness which is non-physical and how they interact with eachother is called the Interaction problem. If we can find a brain area that the Brain, Mind/Consciousness can interact with eachother the frontal lobe is possibly the key area to look. Why Occam's Razor doesn't apply to the hard questions of life

Occam's Razor is a very useful tool in Science however the more I think about it I don't think it should apply to the hard tough questions of life such as do we have free will?, Did the Universe come by chance or did it come by something creating the universe be that a god or some advanced alien civilization. How did life begin? and so many more. Applying as little assumptions as possble is a good thing however when it comes to these hard questions that may not work. I was watching this youtube video last night and did find it interesting here we have a realist monist Donald Hoffman is theory says that we are in a interface. Like we are all wearing a virtual reality set on our heads. But once we take off that virtual reality head set just like we would if you took one off by playing a virtual reality game you would find out that you still exist but the person you played in the game the avatar would die. If the avatar was killed. Dr. Mark Solms says the Cortex is not the seat of Consciousness in the Brain

He thinks instead that we neuroscientists should consider taking consciousness down a level from thoughts to emotions. While destroying just a tiny area of the recticular brain stem does bring about automatic coma. This still doesn't tell us anything about consciousness it tells though that we can brings the brain/body into that state of automatic coma and we go completely unconscious Consciousness on the other hand is subjective in nature and does have physicality to it as well. Picking emotions just one feature of Consciousness is not enough to enravel the mystery of how consciousness is somehow produced by the brain. Dr. Mark Solms is just another Materialist scientist who instead of saying Consciousness is seated in the Cortex of the Brain it is seated Reticular core of the brainstem.

Youtube Atheists

Many if not most go by the line that they once believed in religion. I for one don't endorse religion as I see religion has had it's own monopoly on ideas such as life after death making anyone who dares investigate rather or not there is one or not just someone with a religious agenda. That couldn't be farther from the truth. I for one have never followed any religion nor have I read any holy books. I used to think that once your dead that it's there is nothing lights out. Of course as you know I am convinced that the scientific evidence for an afterlife is very strong. I can name numerous youtubers who are Atheists some with their own shows. They often attack people who are faith based who believe in the bible and other such holy books. I just had my second dose of the covid-19 vaccine. My first dose was Pfizer and my second dose was Moderna. I encourage anyone who hasn't gotten their first dose or second dose to get it.

Hey guys I know its been a long time since I have been on here. Not a lot going on other than the Covid 19 Pandemic which still has a grip on the world. I would like to discuss a youtube video I just watched yesterday it was about rather or not there is an immaterial soul that survives bodily death. The debate was completely one sided as the debaters were Materialist Atheists asserting that Science has given ample scientific evidence that their is no such thing as a immaterial soul. The reason why Psychical Research started was to demonstrate that all suppose mediums/psychics were frauds which is a good position to take as in science you would want to falsify your position. Well they did falsify it as it turns out some mediums/psychics really can communicate with the otherside. This scientific evidence has been presented on here a lot.

Is the mind dependent on the brain?

Many Neuroscientists think so however many are also interested in proving their pet theories. We know this for example in the Phineas Gage case, the same that can probably be said about other cases as well such as "The man who mistook his wife for a hat". I don't doubt these cases have happened just the interpretation of such cases. You have to be very careful not to leap to conclusions. For example, these cases are seen as scientific evidence that the mind is somehow produced by the brain.

I hope all Canadians me included have a wonderful Canada Day. All Canada day events will be online this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Which does suck but nothing anyone can do about that. In other news I have just come across another article on the split brain experiments where they continue to show scientific evidence of one locus of consciousness. That when you split the brain you don't have two consciousness but one unified consciousness which is compatible with the filter/receiver analogy of consciousness/mind/brain.

Internet analogy as it pertains to the Mind and Consciousness

Hi there guys hope everyone's weekend is going great. I was just thinking about a interesting new 21st analogy for brain/mind/consciousness.I still like the radio and tv analogies as well but I think this one is more up to date. This is different then the Materialist computer analogy that the brain is hardware and the mind is software and that consciousness is just some grand illusion of the brain. In this analogy all three are important, the brain is hardware and also software, mind/consciousness is the internet. This would explain why Neuroscientists can take pictures from the brain and see images like going into the computer and seeing images from the internet like google. Of course the internet did not originate from the computer instead the internet is access through a router/modem and the originator comes network towers. Those network towers in this analogy are from the other dimensions/ that are connection to this modem/router which is the soul made up of a different type of matter. The brain is merely a interface for the mind and consciousness in this view.


One of the biggest problems with Physicalism is that it tries everything to one substance. We know that the brain exist, that the mind exist and that consciousness exist. These are three things, not one. First you say that consciousness is just a grand illusion somehow generated by the brain and that the mind is just what the brain does. Nice and easy story there but it doesn't mean its true.

Coronavirus rant

I am feeling so frustrated and angry right now. So sick and tired about hearing about this Covid 19. It feels like people are in a war zone so many darn restrictions. Easy for people who have a vehicle you can just hop in and go get fast food. People don't realize but when your going to a mall you do need something on the run something in your stomach. This is almost becoming to much for me. I was at the TD bank today and it was like a complete war zone had to wait outside for 20 plus minutes before even being allowed to come in so was my mother. They better start easing restrictions soon. One guy walk into the TD Bank and shut off his mouth to the workers there he had enough. Sorry for the rant but this really testing any patience I have left. The snow is adding insult to injury. I like snow but with this happening no need for it.


Yeah we are getting snow just to add too the current misery. It seems like things are getting worse, hopefully they get take a turn for the better soon. I have to get a new laptop too and to my surprise they had none at Walmart today when I went over there. Walmart is another place I will be avoiding for the next few months the same with TD Bank. I don't like going into Sobeys grocery store anymore neither they are way too strict with things. We have no Ubereats, Skip the dishes or Doordash here in my small town of New Glasgow Nova Scotia Canada so all we have are pizza places that will offer delivery. I miss my hamburger joints and KFC chicken.

My thoughts on Covid -19 the Coronavirus

I like to present you my thoughts on this. We are social animals we are not met to be confined to a house. We have to be social losing the outside world will make us lose our mental well-being. Yes a lot of people are dying from Covid-19 but we cannot give into fear. The economic impact from this will be felt for a very long to come. There seems to be growing evidence that this virus was accidentally leaked inside a Wuhan lab. The original account of how this took place being that it originated from a wet market doesn't hold up. Because of the Chinese government we are all paying for it. I think China should be held accountable and so should the Who ( The World Health Organization), the who knew about this but didn't tell anyone, instead they praised China over and over again. Saying how good of a job they did containing the virus.

The Coronavirus is very concerning

There is a virus out now that is very concerning. It is called the Coronavirus the number of cases keep on rising. As the death toll in China reaches 170 as well as 1,737 new cases. 170 people had been cured and discharged. Of course the economic impact from this could very well be devastating if this continues and gets even worse. Cases have also been reported outside of China including Canada, Germany, the USA and many other countries.

One Virologist had me very concerned when he said this

"The coronavirus outbreak could be 10 times worse than the SARS epidemic that killed 800, an expert has warned".

However, other experts disagree that the Wuhan virus could be worse than SARS. Does creating Artificial Memories prove that memories are somehow stored in the brain?

No it doesn't as artificial memories are nothing like a real memory. That is why they are called fake memories. The hopes of many Materialist scientist's is that this will eventually lead to proving the engram theory of memory. That memory is physical traces stored in the brain. However previous failure of this theory should make these scientist's pause that the theory may be wrong. We also have evidence mentioned previously in this blog about terminal lucidity patients who have their memories return to them shortly before their death. This strongly indicates that memories are not stored in the brain.
