How my Surgery went with my Wisdom Teeth

Well here it is. They did an x-ray on me because the guys in New Glasgow lost it. It only showed one impacted wisdom tooth and the other three were removed too while the other x-ray showed two impacted wisdom teeth. They gave me a iv sedation I don't think I was fully sedated as I was able to feel what they were doing. I know I should of said something I am just glad it's over with. The worse part was the gauze part. Swallowing my own blood which made me throw up some in the backseat of my sister's car in a sobeys bag. I was in pain for about four days then the pain subsided.

Wisdom Teeth update and a little rant

Well, I went to Doctor's office all my blood work is perfect!. That is good news knowing that I am still waiting on getting all four of my wisdom teeth out. I got to get it down to Fall River Nova Scotia that is located in Halifax. There is a doctor there that does a lot of different operations. The way my wisdom teeth grew in they are right near the bones in my mouth. So more caution has to be taken. They will put me to sleep with a sedative and there will be a lot of cutting involved. My blood platelets were low before under 50,000 now they are up to 140,000 which is good. I will most likely have more blood work to get done there in Halifax before they do the operation. So my doctor wrote a letter to my employment worker stating I will be taking a leave of absence for awhile because of my operation. I will most likely not be on my feet for awhile after that.

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of friends I know from High School getting married and having kids. I am very happy for them. Big life changing moments for sure. I am not the selfish type so I don't think why can that be me?. As I am getting older myself I often think about those things. I know that if a person was to get married with another person. Make sure that you really love them. Also, do you see yourself with the person you love let's say for 5 years? 10 years? etc. If you don't maybe you should think about marrying them first. Plus, you have to be really really sure that you love them with all your heart. I am sorry about the rant but I do have a lot on my mind. I may go for a walk later. As it is nice outside and I like the cooler weather better than the hot humid sticky weather. I am going to watch WWE Monday Night Raw tonight.

Having my Wisdom teeth removed

Well soon I will have all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I recently went to the dentist and I had an x-ray done to my teeth as my teeth were hurting. The x-ray revealed that two of my wisdom teeth are pushing against my other teeth (Impacted Wisdom Teeth).

The dentist told me it would be better to have all my wisdom teeth removed. So I am now waiting to receive my bill in the mail to see how much it will cost me. I am on MSI, I believe they pay like 80 percent and I pay 20 percent. However, they may pay the entire bill as it's considered to be a major health hazard. There is a lot of things on my mind lately that is just one of them another is the fact that my sister and her husband are wanting me and my mother to move very close to Ottawa Ontario with them next summer. I think we will as their is no jobs in this small town. The economy is much better there as well as their is a lot of things to do there too.

Yes Critical Thinking is Important!

Materialists often state that supporters of Psi Phenomenon and and Afterlife among other things lacked critical thinking skills. That is an easy statement to make without actually backing it up. A lot of Psychical researchers for example didn't go into examining the paranormal to prove it's existence. Far from it they actually wanted to show that all these people who claim they are able to communicate with spirits for example were frauds and delusional. However, that is not how things went down, instead one by one they became convinced of the reality of an afterlife and psi phenomenon. They carefully controlled for all variables and exhausted all regular normal explanations for such purported phenomenon. Fraud is an easy charge to make because it's something you cannot 100 percent disprove. That is why Skeptics often make a charge such as this. You never hear supporters such as me and others for an afterlife etc"} make a statement that Materialist's don't use critical thinking. That is because we aren't as destructive as they are. That doesn't mean however that supporter's of an afterlife and other such things don't get defensive. They do, we all do. It's human nature, however when someone resorts to physiological attacks on one's frame of mind by saying oh there is something really mentally wrong with that person. Well, that is when it's going too far.

Side note: As you know I live in Canada and we are celebrating Canada's 150 birthday and I just want to say I am thankful for living in Canada. There is a lot to be thankful for and proud of. We are an amazing country.

Very important new channel on Youtube

I have recently subscribed to a new channel on Youtube. It's called "new thinking allowed", hosted by Jeffrey Mishlove. It is very informative and provides an amazing wealth of information that you may have never known about. It explores topics such as Parapsychology, Mind body problem as well as Psychical Research with an open mind.

You can check it out here. I highly recommend you do.

A recent hit piece on Psi Research

As you are aware Parapsychologist Daryl Bem has been doing a lot of experiments on ESP. Columnist Daniel Engber did a recent hit job on Parapsychology. He viciously attacked his character as a scientist by saying that Daryl Bem always believe in Psi. Couldn't be further from the truth. Daryl Bem is open to the possibility that maybe just maybe it exists. Numerous positive replications have been done by Daryl Bem and his colleagues. There has been some failures as well. Psi researchers are well aware the the experimenter effect which has been well known since the 1960's by psychologists. Apparently Daryl Bem, Marilyn Schlitz and Delorme presented results from their ESP experiment as they performed a pre registered analysis according to Daniel Engber. It looks like their large-scale, multisite, pre-registered replication ended in a failure. Here is a little more information cited from that article.

"In their conference abstract, though, Bem and his co-authors found a way to wring some droplets of confirmation from the data. After adding in a set of new statistical tests, ex post facto, they concluded that the evidence for ESP was indeed “highly significant.” Since then they’ve pre-registered a pair of follow-up experiments to test this new approach. Both of those efforts are in progress; meanwhile, the original attempt has not yet been published in a journal."

- Interesting but not so much, a typical accusation launched at Parapsychologist's is that they engage in fishing for positive results.

Not surprisingly Dr. Steven Novella did a recent post on this very subject. He said that Psi is dead. That their is no need for any more research in this field. The thing is which Steven Novella hides from his post is the fact their has been many successful positive replications for Psi. You can't take one negative result and have it rule out 2 or more positive results. It doesn't work that way. The reality is there has been more successful positive replications for Psi then their has been negative replications. Psi Phenomenon deserve to been taken seriously by the scientific community.

Steven Novella said this. Which I find rather interesting.

Alas, Bem and his fellow psi researchers did not give up:

In their conference abstract, though, Bem and his co-authors found a way to wring some droplets of confirmation from the data. After adding in a set of new statistical tests, ex post facto, they concluded that the evidence for ESP was indeed “highly significant.”

So close. They did the rigorous protocol, they put their nickle down like good scientists, but then they flinched from the results. That is the moment that separates real scientists from pseudoscientists. That is the ultimate test – can you accept results which definitively disprove your pet hypothesis?

So one failed replication disproves a person's theory?. I don't think so. For a phenomenon to be accepted it should be replicated hundreds of times.

Questions Physicalists have a very hard time answering

There are numerous questions physicalists have a hard time answering. One of them is the fact that I can easily imagine life without consciousness. That would definitely signal a strong scientific confidence that Physicalism is right. However, we don't have that we have subjectivity an inner life that at least humans possess. What evolutionary advantage is there in having conscious beings instead of zombie like humans?. Another is the fact that I can easily imagine the earth being just a tad closer to the sun. If that was the case life would not exist. It would be too hot on earth. Let's put aside the overwhelming evidence for psi and for an afterlife to the side for a moment. Physicalist's claim that consciousness ends when physical life ends when the brain stops. However, consciousness is subjective in nature. How can subjective have an ending. Be that a temporary ending or a permanent ending like Physicalist's insist it must. Well, I just wanted to share these questions with you. I have been thinking about them for a long time now. Physicalists never have any proper answers to these questions. Though many of them seem to be very certain of their positions. They never have any doubt in their convictions. So what about Idealism?. Well, it seems to suffer the same problem that Physicalism does and that is assuming everything is reduced down to one single substance. Instead of matter/energy being primary, we have consciousness as primary. Substance Dualism seems to be the best answer as it doesn't make reality be simple. After all, reality isn't so simple. As new discoveries like Quantum Physics are teaching us.

On a side note, the weather here has been downright awful, with constant rain and more coming too.

New study provides strong evidence that their isn't two separate streams of consciousness

It looks like the evidence that materialist's have been touting as powerful evidence against substance dualism. Which it would be if true. That is if there is two separate consciousnesses when you split the Corpus Callousum. However a new study has now provided strong evidence that clearly shows that two separate consciousness is very unlikely. It is welcome news, for Substance Dualist's such as myself who strongly support this view. This particular evidence for two consciousnesses in a brain was used in a new book called the Myth of an Afterlife well it looks like now that interpretation of the evidence is wrong. There is no consciousness split when you split the brain.

This experiment is expected to be repeated several more times says the researcher Yair Pinto.

Here is the study here.

Dr. Yair Pinto talks more about the evidence showing that when you split the brain you still get one consciousness.

Happy New Year!!!

I hope you had an awesome Christmas and may 2017 which is now here be awesome as well. I need to address something that I consider important. There is a case of a man who apparently lives with 10 percent of his brain intact only. Neurologist Steven Novella, questioned this because this would be possible evidence against the view that the brain somehow produces the brain. He tries to go with a materialist explanation to explain this case. However, numerous scientist's are rather puzzled by this particular case and are having a very hard time finding a materialist explanation for it. Michael Prescott does a great job of dismantling the superplasticity explanation that Steven Novella is using.
